- Karen Turner, University of Strathclyde, UK, conducted a workshop on computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling, August 10-12, 325 Brooks Hall.
- We welcome Donald J. Lacombe, from the department of economics at Ohio University who has assumed the duties of Associate Professor at WVU beginning August 16, 2009. He holds joint appointments with the Regional Research Institute, the Division of Resource Management, and the department of economics.
- The Regional Research Institute and the departments of Economics, Geography, and Resource Economics sponsored another highly successful 3-day Introduction to Spatial Econometrics Workshop in May, 2009. This workshop was a follow-up from the previous "Introduction to Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis" held in December. We thank James LeSage from Texas State University at San Marcos who did a great job!
- RRI Director elected 2011 President of the Southern Regional Science Association. A vote at the annual meeting of the SRSA in San Antonio, TX elected Randy Jackson President for the year of the Association's 50th anniversary. Jackson will serve as Program Chair for the 2010 SRSA meeting in Washington, DC next March.
