News and Notes [October 2007-October 2008]
___________________________________________________________________________________________
- The Regional Research Institute and the departments of Economics, Geography, and Resource Economics sponsored a highly successful 3-day Spatial Analysis Workshop December 15-18, 2008. The event was attended by nearly 60 WVU graduate students and faculty from ten departments and four colleges. This turnout is especially impressive given that the Workshop was announced only weeks in advance, and was held the week after finals when many people had already committed to be off campus. This Workshop was preparatory to a follow-up workshop on spatial econometrics to be held the week following Spring semester finals. Arizona State's Serge Rey ( http://geography.asu.edu/rey ) did an excellent job presenting both substantive materials and spatial analysis software.
