Biography:

Dr. Yu joined the Institute in October 2008 as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow while remains a research affiliate of the Institute of Science Communication in the Chinese Academy of Science. Before that, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Spatial Economics, Free University (Amsterdam) and a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Public Policy, George Mason University. During the aforementioned period, his publications have been accepted by academic journals such as Studies in Regional Science and Public Administration Review, discussing technology catch-up models in developing countries and comparing innovation policies across China, Western European Countries and the United States. Dr. Yu received his doctorate in Management Science and Engineering from the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, 2007. His dissertation combined the endogenous growth theory, the Schumpeterian Economics, and the productivity analysis approaches while attempting to interpret China’s unprecedented economic growth since 1979 as a result of entrepreneurship reoccurrence and development. This has ever since grounded his research interest in entrepreneurship, regional economic development and productivity analysis.
