West Virginia Population Estimates and Projections

In 2005 revised population projections were released using 1995-2000 gross in- and out-migration estimates.

WVU's Regional Research Institute is West Virginia's official representative in the Federal-State Cooperative Programs for Population Estimation and Projection. The Institute conducts methodological research, prepares estimates and projections for all counties, and studies population change. The Institute's projections are widely used for planning purposes by businesses, government agencies, health service providers and interested citizens throughout West Virginia. Click here for our most recent projections.

The methods used to prepare these projections can be found in the read-only file reproduced (with permission) from the Journal of the American Planning Association 59,1: 45-64 (1993) entitled, "The Right People, The Right Rates," by Andrew M. Isserman. To view this file you need to enter the password: people.
